A STRONG Work Ethic is key to learning - so lets get STRONG together.
The Student's Teacher
Salutations! My name is Rory Gangbar and I am the Student's Teacher. I pride myself on being flexible, approachable and open to new ideas about teaching and learning. My one wish as an educator, is to be able to learn as much from my students as they are able to learn from me.

WHAT IS THE STUDENT'S TEACHER?

The ethos of the Student's Teacher stems from the idea of the Players's Coach. Historically, the Player's Coach held simultaneous responsibilities, holding both playing and coaching duties. Today, in both professional and amateur sports, the Player's Coach is often referred to as someone who approaches the game-plan with the thoughts, feelings and overall mentality of the players in mind. Recognizing that in order to have successful players/students, the coach/teacher must be a successful communicator, facilitator and motivator.

WHO AM I?
I am an outgoing, fun loving, sports enthusiast who looks at education with a 'experiential outlook'. I want students to come away from my classes and my tutoring sessions with the best experience possible. My motto is to instill a strong work ethic in all that I do, because I truly believe that hard work pays off.

Growing up, I always enjoyed going to school, so its no surprise that I have decided to spend the rest of my life working with students, in order to help them enjoy their studies as much as I did. As a full time Toronto Maple Leafs fan, I am passionate about hockey, but I also enjoy soccer, basketball, Moksha yoga and running. I love to write, and currently, I am enrolled in the Masters of Education program at York University, and I am studying student experience in higher education. If you get a chance check out some of my RESEARCH, as feedback is always welcome.

When I am not focused on teaching, I enjoy taking in a good movie, reading a book and relaxing with a coffee and some good conversation. Got a question, comment, query or quandary? please feel free to contact me at my email below.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

THE STUDENT'S TEACHER
"It was my absolute pleasure to host Mr. Gangbar and I am confident that he will be an asset to any school and board lucky enough to have him their employ. It is rare to see such positive impact on a school and its students so early in the practicum teaching process. Mr. Gangbar’s attitude, knowledge, engagement of students and diligent approach are second to none I have observed in my past 10 years of teaching teacher candidates".

Paul Turner, English Teacher, Streetsville Secondary Public High School
"Rory worked with us throughout the current 2011-2012 school year in a teaching capacity. He taught students ranging in age from 5 to 17 years of age with reading comprehension, early reading basics, math and writing. His enthusiasm, gentle approach and ability to explain challenging concepts with clarity and patience quickly made him a favourite among our students."
